Lo que sera sera | Soul Shoot
Ever wonder what could have been if things went the way that you had planned them?
Yesterday was one of those days. I planned an amazing spontaneous soul-shoot*** with a model that I just connected with. We were supposed to do this really cool idea that I've been wanting to do for a while now (I'm going to keep it a secret until I can do it.) I bought my stuff, had it delivered, was planning for nice weather, got rain instead, the little piece of equipment stopped working as soon as our shoot began...and so the soul-shoot that I planned out in my head had to completely change it's course at the last minute.
However, Katie Phillips(who is a wonderful model to work with if you're ever needing someone in the Fort Worth, TX area!) was a roll with the punches kind of girl. Katie had driven an hour to meet with me, had her makeup done by Yarixa Ramirez(Beauty By Yari). I asked her to go barefoot in some of the pictures and not once did she hesitate. She understood the vision that I was going for and went for it. It really helps when you work with people who are as laid back as you are and not scared to try new things. So, what could have been a sucky experience, turned out to be an amazing shoot where I got tons of images that I've been wanting to try out.
Lo que sera sera...what will be, will be.
***A soul-shoot is what I've decided I'm going to call the shoots that I do for my self fulfillment. They aren't paid shoots and mostly I'll have to go out of pocket on the props, the models and makeup will collaborate with me(if I use models for it), and basically it's for my soul. They make me happy, make me invigorated, and help me keep the flame within me lit. I never want to burn out and therefore, I do soul-sessions. I don't ever want my creativity to be stomped out because I take on too many commissioned projects(although they are incredibly helpful to make sure that I keep the lights on at home!). But at the end of the day, I never want my creativity and child-like awe to be gone. I want to remain truthful to my soul.
If you want to do a soul-shoot with me, please let me know! I'd love to either work with you depending on your vision or even collaborate with vendors with a similar feel as the work that I produce.
